Yoga with Helene
What can yoga do for you?
Hélène (one of our yoga teachers) wonders: “Feeling stiff after sitting on a chair all day or drained of your energy after work?”
She explains that “Our 21st century lifestyle leads to bad postures, less flexibility, mobility and an agitated nervous system due to stress.”
She encourages you to “Give yourself some time to strengthen, stretch and relax through yoga”, to “Get ready-to-use tips for your daily life!”
“No flexibility required, no performance spirit, simply come as you are, experience and benefit from yoga!”, she emphasized.
Can I try (for free)?
Yes, the first class is free. Then pay the yearly fee to enroll to the club. Give it a go!
When can I join Hélène’s yoga classes?
On Mondays or Wednesdays 18:00-19:30.
Where do the classes take place?
In the dance room in the Escape building (at ESTEC).
Shall I book the classes in advance?
No, just show up and introduce yourself to our teacher(s)!
Do I need to come on a regular basis?
This is a drop-in class, you can come whenever you wish.
Of course, with regular practice (once or twice per week), you will experience greater progress.
But we know that we all do our best to keep consistency amongst the chaos & beauty of life.
Practice once in a while will always benefit your body and mind!
Can I access yoga only or other activities by joining this club?
By subscribing, you can access all yoga classes but also piloxing, pilates, zumba, circuit training, gym & body balance. Look at the club’s schedule. Do not wait! Take care of yourself to better take care of others!
Who is the teacher Hélène and what is her approach?
“Hello, my name is Hélène Landmann, French expat in the Netherlands! I am a certified yoga teacher (and engineer). With a restless mind and a tired and tensed body, my yoga experience has been liberating. I now provide a caring and thoughtful teaching to make others discover the benefits of yoga. My approach is a mix of what I learn.ed in De Gasquet®, (soft) Vinyasa and Yoga Wellness Educations. Many human bodies have musculoskeletal imbalances which need to be addressed. That is where I want to help. Let me guide you with my creativity so that you live your own yoga experience! We will safely move our body in a sequence of postures. We link each movement and posture with our breath. Those sessions of yoga are for everyone, including beginners! With a strong anatomical knowledge, I adjust to any-body. If you want to get a glimpse on my activity, feel free to consult my website: www.heleneyogilife.com. Hopefully, see you soon on the mat at Escape! Namasté, Hélène.”
What are the tips for joining Hélène’s yoga class?
– Grab 1 yoga mat, 2 purple blocks and 1 white strap (in the club closet at Escape) before attending the class.
– If possible, bring a thick blanket or towel and a small pillow to use as padding for your head, knees, spine, etc. in different poses or to be comfortable for the final relaxation.
– If not, please grab an extra mat in the club closet.
– If you want to eat before a session, do so preferably two hours beforehand to have digested or eat a light snack.
– Feel free to bring a drink / bottle of water and allow yourself to hydrate if you feel thirsty during the practice.
Last but not least, Hélène’s recommendations (not only on the mat but also in daily living):
Tune in your body sensations & breath at each mo(ve)ment on (and out) of the mat! Adjust to what you feel. Learn how to use your intuition & balance between the heart & mind to better live in this world!
Yoga does not transform the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees” (Quote from B.K.S. Iyengar).
